Week # 4: “Refresh Your Confidence!”

Hi Friends,

Welcome Back!

EVERYONE has occasional drops in confidence levels- confidence in this case being defined as a sense of personal wellbeing, a comfort in one’s own shoes, and a sense of capability to perform competently within our environment. Dips can be due to a myriad of reasons that are natural to all of us. How long the drop lasts is also based on a variety of conditions, but there are a few proactive approaches to take to help yourself manage and lift your confidence when it seems to fall off course.

Whether you’re at a confidence peak, a low or anywhere in between this week, the following tips will boost you higher, by giving your brain a reason to release ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and various endorphins.

What can I Try?

1. MENTALLY

IDENTIFY WHAT YOU LOVE:

• Take 5 mins each morning to focus on what is great about your life

• List things in your head and allow your body chemistry to begin to respond to the positivity you’re creating

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL STRENGTHS:

• Have you ever thought specifically about what they are?

• Again, list them

• Why do people enjoy being around you? What are you valued for in your role? What makes you, you? What are you good at? What do you love about you?

CURRENT CHALLENGES:

• What are the life/work issues giving you a hard time?

• Think through possible solutions for each one

• Set them aside if they’re out of your control but create an action plan for those things you can change

• Acting on them builds self-assurance

• We’re more likely to feel confident when we can see things objectively and have a sense of control

2. PHYSICALLY (No-brainers, but we break these rules too often because we’re ‘busy’)

  • GET SLEEP: Fatigue can colour our vibrant world in tones of grey
  • EAT WELL : A happy, confident body needs the right fuel and enough of it, often enough!
  • BE STILL : The brain needs a break, literally.  Give it the time it needs to ‘re-group’ and feel the difference in your confidence levels
